Draw Chain - the drawing telephone game.
The telephone game, but nobody whispers. A sentence becomes a drawing, the drawing becomes a guess, the guess becomes the next drawing. At the end the album shows how far it all drifted.
What is the drawing telephone game?
The drawing telephone game is the party classic where nobody whispers: one player writes a sentence, the next draws it, the one after sees only the drawing and writes down what they think it shows. Draw Chain is exactly that, on your phones: every player starts their own chain, everyone draws at the same time with a finger, and at the end the album shows every step - and where "a cat on a motorbike" turned into "tiger at a petrol station".
- 1
The host creates a lobby, everyone joins with the 6-digit code on their own phone - 3 players minimum.
- 2
Everyone writes a sentence to start their own chain. The sillier the better.
- 3
Each sentence is passed to the next player, who has to draw it. All players draw at the same time, nobody waits.
- 4
The drawing goes to the next player, who only sees the sketch and writes down what they think it shows.
- 5
Writing and drawing alternate until every chain has been through the whole group. Then the album reveals every step, with hearts for the best drawing.
Example starting sentences.
The best starting sentences mix a familiar thing with something it should not be doing. Concrete nouns, one clear action, nothing abstract. Eight that work:
A giraffe stuck in an elevator
Easy to draw, hard to keep. After two rounds the giraffe is usually a ladder.
Grandma wins a skateboard contest
The skateboard survives, the grandma rarely does.
A penguin ordering pizza by phone
Three recognisable objects. The chain decides which one gets lost.
Two cats arguing over an umbrella
Cats are the easiest animal to draw and the easiest to mistake for something else.
An astronaut mowing the lawn on the Moon
Stripes on the grass make it. Without them it becomes a vacuum cleaner.
A snowman on holiday at the beach
Sun, sea, snowman. Watch it turn into a melting ice cream.
A dragon that is afraid of a mouse
Fear is hard to draw. That is exactly why it is fun.
A dentist for sharks
Big teeth, small chair. Expect a crocodile by the end.
